ST-Guide already supports embedded images in help files - I use them
in the latest CLA help file for diagrams.
You can also use GDOS fonts.
No sound support is provided though - 1st Guide allows more variety
of imported data (GEM,IMG,Sounds), but IMHO isn't as practical as
it uses linked files for all it's stuff - you cann't have an image
in the middle of a page of text, it must be in a window of it's own.
Also, ST-guide does auto Index generation, and comes with utils to
convert PureC,PurePascal,1stGuide & Unix Manual Pages to ST-Guide
format. The ST-Guide compiled hypertext files are compressed, and
any images that are used are embedded (repeated images are only
stored once, so that company logo you love can be on every page).
It is VERY like the MS-Windows and HP-UX help utilities.

A comercial package is no use at all, this must be free for everyone
or shareware developers will not support it.

Yes, but manview (good though it is) is not as good as ST-Guide.

It keeps a record of your moves through the hypertext stack so that
you can backtrack the way you came (unlimited levels).

Why ? I bet the developers of ST-Guide would be willing to code a
convertor (they seem to be doing them for everything else).
PS.
I think the discussion should be closed on the Keyboard stuff so
that we can move on to something more interesting (such as embedded
objects and service sharing....)
